- COTTAGECORE STYLE -
Spring / Summer

The “Cottagecore” style is an aesthetic and idealized lifestyle that romanticizes traditional rural life, particularly that of pre-industrial Europe (often the 19th or early 20th century). The term appeared on the internet (Tumblr, TikTok, Instagram) towards the end of the 2010s.

Typical pieces include long, flowing dresses (often floral), petticoats and aprons, loose blouses, and light or period-inspired corsets. If there's a chill in the air, add a wool cardigan or knit top. Natural tones (beige, cream, brown, green, pastel) work well, and if there are patterns, they should be floral or small checks.

The preferred materials are linen, cotton, and wool with "imperfect" or handcrafted textures. The idea is to give the impression that you're going out to pick berries in a field…

In short, cottagecore is a romantic, gentle, and nostalgic vision of country life, translated into clothing, decor, and lifestyle. It glosses over the dirt, the early morning wake-ups, and all the hardships of those lives, allowing us to play at being a 19th-century farmer, but with Wi-Fi and package delivery. And honestly, given the state of the world, it's easy to see why it's so appealing.
