What is Yoga?

Yoga comes to us from India. The word Yoga means to connect, to unite in Sanskrit. Both a philosophy and a discipline, Yoga is believed to enable human beings to achieve happiness and harmony in their body and soul. The origins of Yoga are often traced back to PataƱjali, known for his writings on medicine, but also for his works on balance and meditation around 200 BC. However, it is important to know that these original writings, the Yoga Sutras, gave rise to many forms of Yoga, each quite different from the other.

So let's be clear, the exercises that follow are NOT Yoga in the original sense of the term. But you should know that once it arrived in Europe, yoga became highly Westernized, which means that current European practice is in any case itself very far removed from Indian practices... As far as we are concerned, we have absolutely no other pretension than to use certain postures from the world of Yoga to work on calm, breathing and balance.

And even if it's not bodybuilding, know that here too, a little warm-up is essential. Also, consider creating a cozy corner for practicing: a comfortable yoga mat, a blanket for more comfort under your knees, and why not, a small cushion for your forehead. The atmosphere is key: dim lighting, some soothing music, and you're ready for the inner adventure.

Another note: yoga is about letting go. Forcing your body into a position it doesn't feel comfortable in is like trying to fit a square into a circle. If you feel certain areas of your body tense up, take a moment to consciously relax them. A small adjustment, a deeper breath, and you're back in your haven of peace, rather than fighting a battle on the mat.

Programs

As agreed in the pedagogical approach of this site, I will gradually provide you with detailed descriptions of the exercises to be done. Furthermore, it is possible in the future that I will have to do these exercises with more intensity or in special outfits as punishment. These special sessions will be filmed and their public access will be part of my punishment.
